Vermont metalcore upstarts Saving Vice have unleashed a new single, “The Cabal” from their forthcoming sophomore album Good Days, Dead Eyes. The track is full of catchy riffs, has crunchy production and atmospheric passages that demonstrate serious progression for the group.
From the moment the first riff tears through the speakers, Saving Vice assert their musical prowess with unwavering intensity. The guitar work displays intricacy and ferocity, weaving together blistering breakdowns as well as classic two step sections with seamless precision. Each progression drives the momentum forward and keeps the adrenaline pumping, especially during the chorus where the main rhythm guitar pattern is accompanied by a twisting and snarling guitar lead which buries its way into your brain without mercy.
Fronted by vocalist Tyler Small, the band showcases a remarkable range of vocal styles that add depth and dimension to their sonic hellfire. From earth-punching lows to banshee-esque fries, Small knows exactly what he’s doing and executes his performance with no compromise or hesitation. On the lyrical front, the song explores the hidden machinations of political figures and other dubious characters. “If false Gods are the first to experience death, the shepherds and their sheep are next” Small roars. Hardly the most poetic metaphor, but one that will resonate on stages up and down the metalcore circuit.
Saving Vice’s new album Good Days, Dead Eyes is out May 31st 2024.
