A Night in November - Sunny Mornings

Yorkshire’s A Night In November are dealing big in the business of revved up metallic songs with a strong pop undercurrent, and new single “Sunny Mornings” proves that business is indeed good. Combining irresistible pop melodies with hardcore gang vocals and gutturals, the band are following in the proud British tradition of huge choruses packed with emotion, combined with seriously heavy performance and production. The song brings to mind such rock royalty as Bullet For My Valentine and Funeral For A Friend, but not once does this band venture into outright impersonation.

“Sunny Mornings” starts strong, with a fantastic winding riff leading to a verse that weaves in and out of a multitude of great hooks. The drum performance is especially fantastic, with a Barker-esque sense of timing and pleasingly percussive grooves filling the space between every chugging riff and brutal scream. I’m warning you now, this chorus WILL get stuck in your temporal lobe. Aside from just being great from a musical standpoint, it contains a great message of positivity that many of us are in need of these days. “When life changes lanes without any warning, I’m happy to cruise with you ’til sunny morning” - The band are building a strong fan community and lyrics like that will go far in achieving that end. A Night In November may be a small band but they strike with the power of one ten times their size. With this great song added to their catalogue, I can’t wait to see what they show us next.
