Free Friends - Worry Free

Pop punk trio Free Friends have cooked up a poignant and breezy track in “Worry Free”, the band’s new single. Working with producer Matt Malpass (blink-182, All Get Out), the three piece have tapped into a stirringly emotional energy that has manifested itself into a great song. The combined experience of band and producer has really paid off, with a great sound and not a moment wasted. Starting off clean and chilled, the track soon opens up with some atmospheric drums before erupting into a raucous chorus that really sets things off. Reminiscent of newer Neck Deep, the chorus is absolutely infectious and is sure to get the crowds surfing and the fingers pointing.

The sonic characteristics of the track bring to mind the most atmospheric tracks of Yellowcard’s discography, but with a decidedly more down-to-earth execution. Ben DeHan gives a strong performance and his past experience as a solo artist has paid dividends with regard to his songwriting ability. Glimmers frontwoman Maggie Schneider also makes an appearance on the track which gives it a nice bit of duality between the lead vocalists, culminating in a swirling and emotional bridge which precedes the final chorus. “Worry Free” is a great track and is destined to be belted out across the airwaves and across the stages. It feels like Free Friends are really building a solid foundation for future releases, which will hopefully cement their position in the wider pop punk scene.
