Say It Anyway - Mascara Mess

Say It Anyway, the South Wales/South West-based band are back with a melodramatic song labelled, "Mascara Mess." Following the infectious summer anthem "Vampires," this latest single showcases a different side of the band, diving deep into raw vulnerability and emotional intensity.

From the very first note, "Mascara Mess" makes the hairs on your neck stand up. Lead singer Meg delivers one of her most impassioned vocal performances to date. Her voice shines with an incredible intensity that heightens the deep personal lyrics within the track.

The song’s title alone, "Mascara Mess" gives you a sense of the complexity of human emotions, and Meg’s repeated delivery of the opening lyric "told myself I wouldn’t fall for you..." sets the tone for an emotional rollercoaster.

The instruments have an intoxicating blend of raw guitar riffs, punchy drums, and atmospheric melodies reminiscent of a classic emo anthem. The driving rhythm and pulsing bass give it huge energy, while the soaring guitar lines in the chorus offer a perfect contrast to the intimate verses. The instrumental break towards the end is so strong, with the instruments cutting loose and Meg’s voice reaching new heights, creating a powerful heart-felt delivery that feels like a release of built-up emotion.
"Mascara Mess" offers more than just an impressive single. The accompanying music video expands on the track’s senses, helping fans further connect with the release.

Say it Anyway have managed to release a summer scorcher of a track and follow it up with something heart-wrenching for these colder months. I can't wait to see what comes next for Say It Anyway.
