Vallory Falls's latest tune, 'Want Me Dead,' is a spirited anthem that effortlessly combines pop melodies with a dose of emo grit. Bursting with attitude, this track captures the messy aftermath of a broken relationship, delivering a powerful impact that rings true to its emotional core.
Perfectly catchy with a sarcastic edge, “Want Me Dead” oozes a kind of authenticity that’s a bit hard to find nowadays. Fans of Hot Mulligan will feel right at home with this track's bouncy riffs and cutting lyricism. Vocalist Tristan Gilliss explains how “Want Me Dead” evolved from a dream about an old friend a couple years back: “In the dream, they said something like they didn't care if I was, or that they wished I was, dead. The darkest parts of my brain wanted some sort of closure while at the same time being completely overcome with apathy.” Everyone’s had friendships that just kind of pass us by and this honest track perfectly shows both the existentialism of “what if” and the catharsis of letting go.
The chorus is also an instant earworm and it’s no surprise whatsoever why this track has been a fan favourite already at live shows. It’d be near impossible not to have the whole crowd chanting “Condescension is heavy on my head / You say you want me / Motherfucker you got me / You say you want me dead." right back at them.
Be sure to check out their music vid for this too, it’s pretty much got everything you’d want: Band playing in Phoebe Bridges-esque onesies, meet-cute with the girl of your dreams at the Halloween party and a spooky ending (you’ll have to see for yourself). If 'Want Me Dead' is anything to go by, Vallory Falls' upcoming album 'To Save You' promises a lot. And with a northeast summer tour on the horizon, these guys are definitely ones to watch.
