Keyton - Burn the World

Keyton and friends provide a decidedly angst-filled sonic landscape on new track “Burn The World”.

Northern Alabama’s Keyton has been building a name for himself ever since launching in 2005, boasting a soft melodic rock sound that has been lacking from the scene for a long while. With heartfelt lyrics dealing with lost love and regrets, “Burn The World” is a slow descent packed with heart and character. Featuring standout performances from an all-star backing band including Atom Willard (The Offspring, Angels and Airwaves), Jack Lawrence (The Raconteurs) and Canadian artist Billy The Kid, it would be hard for the track to not live up to that amount of talent.

Of course the star of the show is Keyton himself who gives a sterling performance amidst his star-studded band. His vocals and harmonies are soaring in their construction and captivate even in their relative simplicity. This is the type of song you sing at a summertime festival with one arm around a mate, the other cradling a pint.

While the song may be uplifting at first glance, it’s a lot more lyrically dark than you’d imagine on repeat listens. On further inspection it’s pretty obvious that the songwriter was one of the heartbroken variety, but their raw and vulnerable vocals transform the pain into a hauntingly beautiful ballad befitting of the subject matter.

It’ll certainly do the trick on a moody Sunday afternoon as the last act of rebellion before the working week comes around again.
